Ruwaad Association for Community Initiatives and Events
Founded in Madinah in 2019 as a bridge between the government, private and non-profit sectors — established to design and deliver community programmes and events, and to develop the industry that produces them.
Our story
Why an association for events?
Madinah has convened people for as long as it has existed. Gatherings, councils and forums are not an imported format here — they are part of how the city has always worked.
What was missing was the profession around them: recognised standards, trained organisers, reliable suppliers, and a body whose job it is to raise all three. Ruwaad was established to be that body.
The events industry is also economic infrastructure. It fills hotels, employs young people, gives local companies a market, and gives the city a reason to be visited outside its established seasons. Treating it seriously is a development decision, not a cultural one.

- Contribute to developing the exhibitions, conferences and community events industry.
- Strengthen the association's identity and specialisation within the events industry.
- Reinforce national identity in a way that reflects and advances Vision 2030.
- Contribute to training and to initiatives that develop leadership capability in organising exhibitions and conferences.
- Maximise effective partnerships with our partners in support of the association's goals.
- Build the capability of the association's own staff to sustain and develop institutional work.
- Help create an environment for the growth of the exhibitions and conferences sector and the companies operating in it.
- Support all activities related to organising the exhibitions, conferences and events industry.
